New Jersey is home to one of the most diverse and exciting wreck-diving environments in the world. From historic steamships and freighters to modern artificial reefs, the waters off the Garden State offer countless opportunities for adventure beneath the surface. However, local diving presents unique challenges that require specialized knowledge, planning, and skills.
The SDI New Jersey Wreck Diver Specialty is designed to prepare divers for the realities of Northeast wreck diving. Through a combination of academic instruction and open water training dives, students will learn how to safely plan and conduct wreck dives in New Jersey’s dynamic diving environment.

Students will also gain a deeper understanding of New Jersey’s rich maritime history and the significance of the shipwrecks that have made the region a world-class diving destination.
